xTool D1 pro - safety glass

Hi There, Newbie to both the forum and to lasering.

I would like to make my own enclosure but I am struggling to find out what safety glass or screen I need for the window part of my enclosure.

I would be grateful if anyone could tell what I need and where I might some.

Many Thanks

Hi.

Not exactly what You asked for, but a (web) camera based system is the only feasible solution for a visible spectrum laser.

Acrylic materials are extremely expensive.

Sam

Jtech sells OD3 acrylic that’s not terrible priced. It’s not exactly the highest protection rating but is OK for stray light, and certainly for observation with supplemental glasses.

First, get to know your laser wavelength. Then, ask the manufacturers for data about absorption values on that specific wavelength.
For example, for a 450nm diode laser, orange or red acrylic has good absorption values. This is one document I found about the acrylics I checked for my enclosures. It’s in German, but I think you get the message

Thanks all - now busy shopping
