I have just moved my laser machine ( chinese co2 with ruida controller) from the UK to the US, when unpacking I found the laser tube broken so I purchased a new one, installed it.
When starting the machine:
X axis moves normally in both directions
Y axis does not move at all
When I press the Y up/down buttons on the controller, the Y ccordinate changes on the screen, but the physical machine does not move.
I have tried both Y directions with the same result
I have checked the obvious mechanical issues and the belt appears tro be connected
I also tried resetting the machine but it did not solve the problem
I don’t have a multimeter
The Y axis motor is a 57NEMA23 stylestepper motor
The Y axis driver is YAKO YKD2305M-DK Microstep Driver DC 20-50v

Repeat your cable connections. If it got jolted hard enough to break that glass tube, that might be hard enough to shake connectors loose, or even break wiring.
There is no position feedback from the motor, so the controller has no idea it is not moving. At least it looks like the controller is ok.
Could the the driver circuit is kaput as well. I do not have a Ruida, so I have nothing to offer about examining that.
If that was a “factory reset” involving the password, you’re now in the Pain Cave, because the controller’s default settings are completely incorrect for your specific machine.
Independent of the Y axis problem, restore the controller settings from an automatic backup made before the reset:
If there are no automatic backup files listed, then you must reconfigure the controller from first principles, which will require considerable effort. Folks around here can help, but we’ll need more details on the machine & controller.
As @MikeyH says, it’s likely a connection problem brought on by rough handling. The stepper motor driver will (probably) have a pair of LEDs giving some status information. They’re just above the top terminal block in my machine:
Both LEDs On → likely a problem between the driver and the motor
Green On, red Off → controller connection problem?
Just on principle, I’d unplug & replug every connector in the machine to be sure they’re properly seated, plus verifying all the wires are securely fastened in the connectors.
And be certain all the pieces are still securely fastened to the frame, because any impact hard enough to break the tube will probably have loosened some of the screws.
Thank you guys, I actually managed to reconnect wires and now it works, I am actually having another problem, laser does not fire when assigned a job task, it does fire when I click on test on the controller.
