i have been using lightburn with my Ortur laser for a while now. but recently got a NEJE max 3, with extension rails (810x1030). the home position is top left. the Y axis moves in the opposite direction. not sure how to get it set up correctly.
Make sure Origin in Edit->Device Settings is set to bottom-left. This might be unintuitive since your machine homes top-left but that’s how it should be.
thks. i tried all the different areas for origin, and it never worked. i just went in and changed the $131 to 1030. and then moved the head to bottom left, then cleared origin, then set origin, and changed origin in device settings back to bottom left. now its moving correctly. tks!
Nice! Note that the clear origin and set origin were likely not factors in clearing the issue. Changing $131 for sure would have been necessary to get things correct.
ok. so, if i want it to start from the home, and not move all the way down just to start, how would i do that? ex. i place an object to burn in top left corner, when i hit start, it goes to the origin, botttom left, then back up to start framing/burning. rather than just start burning once it reaches position.–trying to minimize all the travel time.
and my laser isnt on during framing, even tho i have it set to fire when framing.
What Start From mode and Optimization Settings are you using?
I haven’t used a machine with your exact setup but I’m surprised that the laser would move all the way to origin before proceeding.
Does the laser fire when running a job? If so, you may need to just increase the power in Move window.
not sure if fire when burning. im still trying to get it set up right. i tried to set the origin to the home area–mistake. now it keeps grinding against the rails trying to move up. not sure how to stop that. the pause and stop buttons dont do anything. if i unplug the power or usb and plug back in it automatically starts grinding again. cant get it to stop. since it was grinding, now, home is not the right coords. when at home, it says this instead of X:0 Y:0
How did you do this? By pushing “set origin” in Move window?
Not sure if this is making sense to me. Set origin shouldn’t have affected this behavior.
With the laser off, manually move the laser head away from home. Try engaging the homing switches by moving the laser head to top-left. Can you feel/hear both the X and Y axis switches engage?
If so, try powering on. I assume your machine homes automatically on power on. If so, does the laser head move to top-left and engage both switches? If not, identify which switch is not getting activated.
yes both switches engage. and yes by clicking the set origin button.
now i unplugged it completely again, and let sit. now it reset current position to
so, i think thats all fixed, but is there a way to stop the motor if it tries to go in runaway? ive had this happen with my ortur before as well, if i didnt go back to home each time i burned, it would sometimes go out of bounds. and grind. seems the STOP should work, but it doesntl
This depends on what initiated the movement. If this is for a job, then pushing pause or stop should stop it. If this is during homing then likely no.
This should absolutely never happen unless you’re using current position, user origin, moving the laser head by hand, or if somehow you’re losing steps somewhere.
ok. its prob due to me not fully understanding the different origins. ill leave it at absolute, and ensure to go home before i do anything.
had to bump the fire power up to almost 3% to see it during framing–this is a much more powerful laser than the Ortur(this is the 80W) so, i didnt set fire very high. think i only used maybe 1% for the old one. as long as it doesnt leave any marks when just firing to see current position, i think ill be good. i can play with it. at least i know what to look for now.
than\ks for everything. got more accomplished in this thread, than multiple back and forths wiht NEJE.
How do I get there, to change mine as I am having the same issue. The bottom of my Console window has Type command here and show all. next row has 3 buttons Macro 1 thru 3. next row Macro 4 thru 6. How do I get to edit the $131
This can be changed in Edit->Machine Settings or by issuing commands to Console like:
$131=VALUE
Where VALUE is the numeric value that you want to assign to $131.
Thank you so much for your time and Answer.
what a simple fix for a major headache. I appreciate your time and answer Thank you.
