Hi I have a ACMER P2 laser with a 33w diode. I recently reset my laptop for battery reasons and hooked up the extension kit and now the Y axis motor is not moving. I can tell that the motor is receiving the message cause on the move tab if I tell it to go in that direction the motor twitches but doesn’t apply enough force to actually move the belt. It’s also a very momentary twitch, not like it’s trying for a prolonged period of time, and I tried taking it apart and putting it back together the way it was before (when it was working) and the Y axis motor did the same thing so I know its a programing issue. I know it’s probably a simple fix but can’t figure it out. Please help.
If you did not change Lightburn or your design, it is likely not a programming issue.
Double check your connections, especially for a broken wire or a pin slipped out. If you had a plug in backwards, it is likely it would move but in the wrong direction (90% confidence).
Appreciate you, I’ve checked all the wires and help them as tight as possible while it was running to test out. Only thing I haven’t done so far is take the motor apart to see if there’s any problems with it. Do you know any recommended replacement motors so I can replace that in case I take it apart and the motors too far gone? Also it’s not that it’s moving in the wrong direction the x axis belt and motor work perfectly it’s just that when I send a command to the y axis motor I can feel the motor twitch but it doesn’t move in either direction.
At the controller board, switch the Xaxis and Yaxis drive connectors. If the Xaxis motor now twitches, it is the motor driver on the controller board. If the Yaxis motor still twitches, then it is the motor. It is rare for a stepper motor to go bad.
If your controller board has plug-in driver modules, you are lucky.
