Z-Focus Test input insufficient for Ruida controllers

So I wanted to try out the Z-Focus test feature but I can’t get it to work on my Ruida controller.

The problem is that the Ruida takes the start position of the bed as 3000mm. So if I turn the laser on with the bed at the top it starts at 3000 and goes up to 3500 in our case. If I turn the laser on with the bed at the bottom it goes from 3000 to 2500.

The input for the Z-Focus test only allows to enter 2 digits for integers. So I can’t tell it to go from 3000 to 3005.

Is there a way to use it that I’m missing?

If you add a limit switch on the z-axis, you can calibrate the z-axis and then it will go from zero to your max z

I’ll have to check with the builder of the laser as we should have a z-limiter installed.
The manual of the Ruida is not very straight forward in that sense to me.

Thanks for the hint.

To be honest though I’d rather not have to modify (or recalibrate) for that matter the machine.

Instead I’d appreciate if I could just enter higher values.

you have to make sure your machine is empty when you start up else it will run into things.
