Z for Fiber Galvo Systems

On the forum, Mar’23 support team JTR Tyler Raps said , “Sorry, LB does not support motorized Z axis control for Galvo lasers.” So I ask 1/2/2024, is this still true? Probably not…but that is well needed, between program layers/layer execution the there should be a Z adjustment command. A part might have several levels of marking height, the process should be automated of course. ONE other Z item !

ha , in **LB playing with the JOG in the Rotary SetUp, the Z is doing the **moving instead of the Rotary !!! (setting either x or y in Rotary SetUP not corrective)

Now in the EZCad2 software, the unit runs the rotary fine and the Z , so what must i do? Make a cable changer ???

I’d guess you’d need to run EZCad2 instead of Lightburn…

Is this different than your other post? It seemed to have been pretty hashed out in your previous thread.

When support advises you Z axes operation are not supported … what are you after?

Ez2 comes with two pinouts , four wires and four wires on their board for motor controller Com4. lightburn is set up to see one specific for the rotary only, on my unit it is the pins 1,6,14 and 15, which allowed my rotary to work otherwise the light burn rotary function was running my Z, my Z which ran fine along with the rotary under the ez2 operation

Mine runs out of warranty soon, so I can get into it… I’d love to have that working…

Thanks

It is checked-in on GitHub.

It’s on the to-do list but it’s not done yet.
Lots of stuff on that list. No ETA at present.

Does this support the EZCad2 boards? I’d very much like to add it to mine…

I was always told that board didn’t have a Z axes …

EZcad2Lite has one output for stepper. Std EZcad2 has two outputs. EZ3 whole nother beast I’m unfamiliar with.

I’ll have to open my machine up in a month, when it goes off warranty… I suspect I have a lite board in mine…
