150w power supply can work with 100w tube?

I know this is an old thread, but i am replacing my 150w psu and im seeing the 150w supply listed as 130w/150w on aliexpress. It may be the same part for some manufacturers?

Or you must adjust it to the maximum allowed current for the tube it drives.

I’m unconvinced AliExpress is a reliable source of quality parts, but I’m also aware Amazon’s ā€œmarketplaceā€ is where you pay more to get eBay stuff. It might be worthwhile to check the offerings from places like Cloudray & LightObject, where you pay top dollar for reasonably consistent stuff.

I’ve spent over 40k on aliexpress, so there are reliable sellers on it, it is just sometimes harder to determine which sellers to stay away from. Some sellers are totally fake. Lots of stuff on Amazon is resold from ali sellers.

I was suggesting some might not even make a 130w, and may just sell the 150 as compatible with 130 tubes when limited properly. If a seller assumes that is known, searching for 130w psu might produce less results depending.

Given the nearly total lack of doc on any of those things, I’m unsure how to evaluate any of their claims.

It is a jungle out there …

I guess i can’t speak to laser parts on ali, my comments were about electronics on ali in general.

I do know many devices that look alike and may or may not share a model number are simply rebranded and the board inside is made by the same oem. I ALSO know many devices that look alike and may or may not share a model number are clones/counterfeit and not made by the oem.

Like you said, jungle. But the reward is there if you know what to look for.

I commend to your attention these three HV power supplies:

Different stickers on the outside with the same ZYE PCB + hardware on the inside.

On the other paw, if any are counterfeit, they’re nice counterfeits.

True, i forgot some companies sell B stock of assembled PCBAs, but i think that’s clone or counterfeit territory…

So i ordered the new tube and psu from omtech. $160 psu and $1140 tube, both 150 watt.

I’m going to get a 2nd machine in the spring, but i am toying with the idea of something dual laser. (That way it can be twice the PITA to maintain, i love a challenge)
