3018 pro and Genmitsu y-axis rotary roller

Good day from a complete newbie
I just assembled my laser 3018 unit and connected my rotary roller.
I was able to find the laser I have and get into the setting for the roller unit
I set 12mm for roller diameter and 37mm for rotation

Now I am stuck. I was told I had to edit macros but cannot find Macro Button to even start ( sorry guess I am a little slow)

Now once I find the Macro button what are the settings for my beginner 3018 Pro ? How do I keep old setting ?

Thanks

If your machine is setup properly you can just run the gcode. I know of no macros, since Lightburn handles everything.

Is this a chuck or a roller style? Assume a ‘roller’ from your description…

Mine requires the number of steps for the motor to rotate the driving wheel one complete rotation. It takes that along with the diameter of the driving wheel and figures the steps for what/where to move.

Good day

Thank you so much. Glad there are no code changes
It is a roller and I managed to set it so it does a completely revolution on my item.

Thanks for your help

No perspiration, mark it solved if that’s the case…

Good luck, have fun.

Thanks to all my issue has been resolved

If it is solved, please state what you did to fix it and mark the thread ‘solved’. It nice to have a clear answer for the fix if you are looking for help.

Take care, have fun…

Good day again

I thought I had it fixed but its not. My problem is I just had neck fusion surgery so can only work at it a short time.

when I am in the roller window and I run test I get a prefect result. Hit fire run test and start and end are at same point. Setting are now roller 12mm diameter rotation 163mm item circumference 163mm is it always rotation = circumference?

First it wouldn’t burn at all I then discovered laser set at 20% moved up to 100% . At least now burning.

I have enable rotary device on and am trying to cut a pattern 163mm high by 8mm wide to make sure ends actually meet.

When I try running it says to large for area so I go continue and yes the roller goes around 360x 4.

What am I doing wrong?

also can you slowdown/speed up laser travel ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Let’s regress a bit. First, take care of yourself before anything…

You have a roller rotary. With a roller or wheeled rotary the computer software only needs to know is two things. How many pulses rotate the driving ‘roller’ one turn.

This is usually steps/rotation of the motor times the gear ratio of the device. And the size of the driving wheel.

Mine, for example, takes 2000 pules for each rotation of the motor. The gear ratio of the device is 2.5 to 1. So the motor must rotate 2 1/2 times for the ‘driving roller’ (or wheel) to make one rotation.

The value in mine is 2000 x 2.5 = 5000

The software also needs to know how ‘big’ the driving wheel is to compute the relationship between the wheel size and how the ‘table’ would move. Remember the rotary is an illusion that it’s flat to the machine and is the same as the table axes…

It doesn’t need to know anything about the size of the object your are rotating.
A chuck type does need to know object size.

Make sense…?

Just want to clarify we’re on the same page.

When I want to check mine, I’ll pick out a dog food can out of the garbage, wash it out. I can put that on my rotary and have a nicely adhered paper on a drum to test with. Cutting rectangles out…

Thank you so much. Yes it makes total sense and I now have it set up properly.
Your explanation clarified my issue perfectly.
Think to take a rest until I am of meds and can think more clearly.

Thank you so muh

Great, if it’s solved, mark the thread solved. If you’re not sure let it sit until you are…
