Hi…Installed MillMage today. I have a 3018 Pro and have configured probing. When probing, the Z axis does not stop when contacting the probe. I know it is working as I tested it in EASEL. What can I try next?
Check your firmware. Probing is nothing that MillMage has control over. It just sends the “start probing” command to the machine, and the machine does the rest. There are some different probing commands, depending on the firmware, so maybe that’s the issue. Can you check which command easel uses?
To build on @misken also look at the speed of probing, specifically the fast probe speed. Not all hardware is fast to interrupt during the probing process… I’ve seen a 3018 be able to quickly interrupt at 600mm/m while a 6050 at the same speed flex the bed of the machine and fault out at the same speed and need to be trimmed down to 150mm/m. See if EASEL has a probe speed setting you can configure and use that in MillMage.
The 3018 market is a crap shoot on if the machine has decent hardware or not.
Did you figure this out yet? I have a Genmitsu 3018 ProVer2, I am in the process of setting mine up now with MillMage. Previously, I have also been using my 3018 with Easel and my Probe worked fine with it. I will check to see if my probe works with MillMage and let you know if I see the same as you. Hopefully be able to do this Monday 3/2 or Tuesday 3/3.
No not yet…Have not had time. Would be great to have this working as I really like that the interface is very similar to Lightburn which I have been using for a few years now. I may??? buy Millmage anyway and use the ‘paper’ method if I don’t find a solution.
Seems to be working now. I had a spare control board here that had not been used. I copied the GRBL settings from this one to the one on my CNC.
Now I don’t know which field to enter the thickness of my probe block…so where do I enter this?
Read the following doc:
I have a 3020 Pro Ultra and found that Z Probing would not work when the Jog is set to Continuous in the MOVE Screen.
