It so happened that i came into possession of what appears to be 4W M-Triangel laser.
I’ve been running a100W co2 laser for a while, but no clue about galvo fibers. Especially such a weak one. Shoved some materials under it, the only setting i played with was speed. Cleaned a penny, engraved aluminium card, marked stainless ruler, some slate, etc. Wood/mdf refused to cooperate, black acrylic engraved fine, but white translucent didnt even scratch. New unplanned toy, so to speak.
Now need to figure out what possible uses a 4W laser could be. I’m interested to hear from people using less powerful fibers over here. From what i could gather source is raycus 4W (FL-1064-WX), the housing has integrated pc (win7), but can be operated directly off my main pc via usb cable.
Tried loading in a bitmap, only laser to drop connection during first few lines of engrave…
And does the fan ever shut off or throttle down on this thing ? My god its loud (might need to mod in a more better 80mm fan).
Any youtube content covering weak fibers specifically ?
Correction: Source is Raycus FL1064-4WX. Going by the code (and data sheet) i’d assume 4W, but its stated as äverage power”, while “peak power” is 40kW (yes, with a “k”, which is nonsense).
Dont know much about fibers but i know they cant break physics
No it isn’t. These are pulse lasers, unlike your co2 which is as a cw (continuous wave). They pump up and then the q breaks down and it dumps what’s in the fibers, this is part of a amplification stage in LASER.
This graphic is from my JPT M7 MOPA manual. Yours is 5nS pulse width (q-pulse), if I recall.
Without physics, they wouldn’t work at all. There’s a lifetime number of them of them out there to learn about. This is a JPT video on how a MOPA works.
As far as it’s uses, there must be somewhere these are used or they wouldn’t build them. I’ve seen similar machines running at around 980nM (shorter wavelength, higher frequency).
Been watching fiber laser vids, and question - my SJTCAD folder doesnt contain “markcfg7” file, only “markcfg0”. I “found” my laser in LB and left it as is by going via “next” button, no import.
Config on SJTCAD is read from random number COR file and settings/corrections appear to be correct upon running test file (70x70mm square). No pinch/bulge/trap/scale errors.
I have no usb that came with the machine originally, so no clue how to proceed.
You make it sound like it is working like expected (darn!). Use the USB cable to the CO2 machine if not ethernet, for testing. Any quality USB cable will work if the CH340 driver is installed.
I guess the question here is what do you want to do?
I’m still pootling about in sjtcad, want to move to LB.
Currently i cant even frame, red pointer doesnt show up. I may need to re-add the machine to LB using some sort of cfg, but the only config i have is a COR file, not CFG, and only CFG is accepted at LB import screen. Do i just rename the COR to CFG ? Would it work ?
COR files only work with the lens for adjustment, they don’t carry the information of your source or other items the markcfg7 file contains. Markcfg7 contains device information along lens CORrection information with whatever lens you purchased with the machine.
You would need to manually configure your system in the device settings.
Well, i downloaded SJTCAD direct from M-Triangel, and it appears to work correctly, but there is still no markcfg7 file. Am i correct assuming markcfg0, being correct, could be used for importing into LB (copy/rename it to markcfg7)?
Will try it later today, but i’d rather not wreck something by exercising my method of “scientific poking of things”…
How do i create “proper” markcfg7 on a correctly working SJTCAD system ?
I’m at a loss for the moment. Every tutorial i find is ezcad, while i have some SJTcad crippled nonsense that works only.
I did manage to fire the laser in LB upon importing markcfg0 by renaming it to markcfg7.cfg, but it was awful slow (i asked for 1000 speed and it was doing like 10 or something…) and i couldn’t get framing to work at all - no red light, not even mirror move sound.
Something to do with ports ? SJT doesnt give me access to port settings (no ports tab in F3), but i can check port status.
Laser is detected in LB as BSLfiber.
Any idea how to revive framing ?
I loathe the idea that i will need to be stuck in SJT… crashy mess that it is…
Anyone have working LB config for M-Triangel PGoneS ? Or any other M-Triangel laser for that matter ?
For future reference - red dot needs to be set to port0 in LB for it to work on M-Triangel PG OneS machine. By default it was set to port5.
Its way off at the moment, need to recalibrate to get it to align to actual graphics, but it appears it is working.
