50W Omtech Galvo - unable to mark Amazon inexpensive coins

A customer supplied me with these coins purchased on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BX1XRWL4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&th=1
They are described as zinc/brass alloy with a silver finish. I am attempting to mark a fairly simple pattern (not 3D) and have experimented with at least 6 different settings combinations. Material shows no sign of any marking, does not even get warm. Swapping out to a piece of steel mid-burn results in immediate deep engraving. Is this material incompatible with my laser?

Silver is a very good conductor of heat. Like aluminum and copper.

Hi Mike, thanks for reply. The silver finish on these coins is not actual silver, I’m not sure if it is a coating or the raw color of the zinc/brass alloy.

I am not sure what else would shine and not mark, other than chrome which I seriously doubt.

May I ask how many passes are you running?, I have the same exact coins, But I ran trialed and error like 3 times and got it corrected. If you can share your settings. Thanks - Asia

You could try black sharpie, baby powder, anything to cut reflection.
