6 minutes for 1 dog tag

It’s been a while since I’ve done these. I do have it in my library, but ugggg 6 minutes to engrave 1 anodize aluminum tag. My machine is a 50w JPT. I’m using a 100mm lens.

To get a nice looking tag, I have to run it at 50speed, 60 pwr, 300 freq, +15 scan angle, 0.0125 LPI on the first pass. 2nd pass -15 scan angle

It looks great. Nice and white undercoating. Smooth finish. But at 6 minutes each, I hate to think about doing 100 of these.

Anyone have some settings that I should consider?

You might be able to de-focus, allowing you to raise the interval which will speed it up… less scans.

Can you get away with a single layer/pass?

These are pulse machines. My only suggestion is to find something that puts the same amount of power into the material… You can try these…

This is for my 60W, but it should give you some guidance. It’s a power relationship. If you can find the same amount of power at a faster speed ?

Thanks Jack for you assistance as usual.

Those links were just like me in the Matrix, seeing the world through a computer screen. Sorry, it was all over my head. BUT, I did in fact de-focus. I got 1000 speed instead of 50, and got the same results with regard to quality

Went from 6:00 minutes plus to 1:50 minutes.

Appreciate the input Buddy !

I’ve done that also… de-focus makes the spot bigger and you can run with a higher interval…

If you just de-focused, you may be able to take time off by adjusting the interval. The larger the interval the less number of scans are required.
