The chip manufacture is up to V4..1.1.0
But I would never do that my luck it would total the machine
Here is their latest response
Dear Customer, hello:
Thank you for your continued patience.
Regarding the issue of the motherboard being unable to connect to your computerās WiFi, I have conducted further technical verification. This is not a hardware failure of the motherboard, nor a design defect, but a global technical limitation caused by a āgenerational differenceā in WiFi technology standards.
1.The root cause lies in the ālanguageā difference: our motherboard chip (ESP32), in order to ensure stable compatibility in industrial environments, uses the ā802.11bā standard by default. However, your computer, in pursuit of network security and connection efficiency, has a network card default policy that will āignoreā such older WiFi signals.
2.Different āstrategiesā of connected devices: Your phone can connect because it is designed with full consideration for compatibility with various IoT devices and will actively scan and display all available WiFi signals. However, the computerās role is to provide fast and secure internet connections for humans, and it will prioritize filtering out networks it considers āunsafeā or āoutdatedā.
3.It has been confirmed that there is currently no version or solution such as āunlocking or fixing via firmwareā that can change this compatibility mechanism. This situation is an objective phenomenon caused by differences in WiFi technical standards and cannot be fundamentally resolved through simple driver or settings updates.
Therefore, the inability of the motherboard to connect to WiFi on the computer is due to the inherent design of both WiFi modules, rather than a problem with the motherboard itself. This issue cannot be resolved through simple driver or settings updates.
In addition, to facilitate our verification, please kindly provide screenshots of the promotional content you have seen. We will verify and handle it as soon as possible based on this information.
Thank you for your cooperation![]()

Well, given that the 802.11b standard dates back to 1999, designing something that obsolete into a system intended for (being generous) 2024 takes a deliberate lack of attention to the details.

Seems a bit different.
As a sanity check:
Retry $ESP115=ON
Retry set WIFI with The MKS Laser Tool.
I tried again and again and still no go. SO then I went in to netwprks setting and made network card 802.11 b only and still no go. I may be wrong but this this tells me they have disabled. They are now telling me wifi can only be with smartphone. So as far as I am concerned the have false advertising.
I do highly appreciate everything you and others are doing to try and help.
I feel if the chip says wifi then that is not a limited wifi. and I did post the photo of the chip above and unless I am missing something it say WIFI
I bet they really mean Bluetooth.
It isnāt bluetooth.
