Activation Key Code problems, Adding Fiber Laser

My first laser was a Xtool bought activation key through Lightburn.
My second laser was CO2 (DSP) upgraded through Lightburn.

No problems. Both lasers appeared in lightburn.

Bought a fiber laser. Bought the $150 activation code through OMtech for Fiber laser because I had a $150 credit. I’m sure you understand why I did not go through Lightburn. : )

Here is the problem. When I installed the fiber laser, the CO2 laser went away. When I reinstall the CO2 laser the fiber laser goes away. How do I remedy this. It would be a complete nightmare if I have to reinstall the fiber laser and CO2 laser everytime I switch lasers. Thanks.

Phil

This is handled by an Internet connection as far as I know.

You should not have to re-install a device… I don’t understand how one could go away…

You should be able to go to the license portal and it should show all the lasers you are licensed for. When you run Lightburn it checks over the Internet and either approves or disapproves the device.

Check the portal that you are good for all devices.

Might want to explain exactly how the co2 went away… when you create a device for a laser that’s a separate configuration and doesn’t affect the other devices… How are you installing it?

So it should not go away…

If there was nothing else I wanted from the vendor, I guess… I paid an upgrade fee of $90 when I upgraded my led/co2 license to include the fiber…

Do you have to enter the license key, i.e. is it different than your other key?

Suspicious that the vendor may have used a different email or some other information that may cause a conflict here ?

Worst case is you will have to email support and ask them to look into it… It’s Saturday, I’m hoping they are home relaxing so we can return to beating them up next week…

Good luck…

:smiley_cat:

What you likely bought from OMtech is the base license for LightBurn (Gcode) and the Galvo add-on. This license would not include DSP support. Your other license has Gcode and DSP support, but not Galvo.

In this instance, your best bet is to e-mail LightBurn support (support@lightburnsoftware.com) Include both of your license numbers and see if they would be able to consolidate everything you are licensed for into one single license. This would allow you to run DSP machines and Galvo machines with the one license. What you really should have done is purchase the Galvo activation to be added to your existing license, which would have been $90.

Awe crap. You are probably right. I bought the GRBL and DSP license from Lightburn. The galvo from OMtech. Wasted $60! Arrrggghhh. Well, I think the problem is I use a different email address with omtech so I don’t think the keys are tied all together. I guess I will have to deal with it monday when all the customer supports are in the the office. THanks for responding.

Phil

It shouldn’t matter, as you’ll be dealing directly with LightBurn. They have support staff around the globe that monitor the LightBurn e-mail, so they should be able to get it taken care of quickly. Just forward all of the details to them and they will sort it out.
