Can you add space between two letters in a text string? I realize I can add spacing between all letters using the “HSpace” function. But that lengthens the whole string. I simply want to insert some space between two specific letters that are infringing on one another, not lengthen the whole string.
Here’s an example using the Ink Draft font. Notice that the U, R, and N are layering on top of one another. In VCarve I can add space between the individual letters if need be to eliminate this problem. I do not want to change the spacing for the whole string, but just add a bit of space between the trespassing letters.
The only way that I know of to do that is to take the offending letters and place them in their own text box. Then you can adjust those individual letters without affecting the rest of the text.
No, not in LightBurn. You can do it in another application such as CorelDRAW, Affinity Designer/Publisher, Inkscape, and no doubt Illustrator, then import into LB.
Here’s a screenshot from Inkscape where I’ve adjusted the spacing between the U, R & N:
James, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately the U, R, & N are trespassing so much on one another that when you do that, they become one shape.
I played with using node editing a bit earlier. I guess you could edit nodes eliminating their trespass/overlap, change to Path, spread apart, and then correct with node editing. . . . . . Lots of work there.
