Adding a border from downloaded SVG's

I’m trying to add a border to something I’m designing. I’ve downloaded a svg with a bunch of decorative patterns on it. Corner pieces and straight pieces. Just wanted to know if there was a way to build a frame around the workspace other than adding the frame piece by piece?

You can get a conformal outline using the Offset Shapes tool:

If the frame is a simple circle / oval / square / rectangle, then the Draw Shapes tool is your friend:

If you need something even more complex, give us more details and somebody who’s already done that will chime in …
