Adding new lenses to Lightburn

Hi Everyone,

Back again for some help. I have an Aurora Lite 50w fiber unit and am on a Mac. I have seen many videos on installing new lenses but there is always a step skipped or not explained well enough for me. I would like to add a third party Cloudray lens, 100mm focus length to my current setup. I have the Thunder thumb drive with that information but only for the 3 lenses they have for their machines, ( 290, 160.110, I believe ). So I am assuming that I do not have that information or a correction file for the Cloudray lenses. I think I have to go through all the corrections anyway for bulge, skew et., so do I actually need a correction file at all? I know you have to add a device, even though it is the same device with just a different lens setup, but what scan field do you plug in for the x and y axis values? I have seen people using the focal length of the lens and I have seen people use the actual scan area of the lens, so 100mm x 100mm or 70mm x 70mm. Which is correct? Do I need the markconfig7 or markconfig0?

I have more questions, but let’s just start with the above and see where that goes.

Thank you,

Jim

This video from LightBurn should help you get your new lens all set up:

Hi Steve,

I did see that video and it was pretty good, but still have questions. So it looks like you plug in the scan field dimensions for the 100mm Fl lens, which would be 70mm x 70mm. Great. Where do I get the correction file for the Cloudray lens? Do I even need it since I will be making all the corrections myself by testing and adjusting skew, bulge etc.

Thank you,

Jim

You don’t need a correction file if you make all the corrections yourself. Follow all the steps in the video carefully and you’ll be fine.

Watch the video, it goes through all of the questions you are asking.

Jared,

Thanks for the information. I think I can get this done now with all the help from the forum. If I have some issues I will ask for more help.

Jim

Hi Steve,

I just watched the video again. It was still a little confusing. One example: Tells you to download the Galvo orientation calibration from Lightburn, but I am guessing that is not necessary either because the correct orientation is solved in the LB 9 pt. lens corrections by making sure the LB dragon is in the proper orientation. Maybe the video was made before the implementation of that.

At any rate, thanks for your input.

Jim
