Air Assist Pump

I’m curious if anyone has tried to use the air pump from an inflatable bed for their air assist? I’m not finding a good solution. Fish pumps are too weak, fans can’t generate enough pressure. They seem to be able to handle volume and pressure. I"ve never played with one outside the mattress.

Try to see how many liters of air it gan give.
I have been running with 2 not so expensive Hailea 60 l air compressor for some time. It was ok.

I never considered it, but the idea has merit. They are both high volume and pressure. The few I’ve used were quite loud, tho.

I’ve hung them up with a rubber band so they don’t touch anything. My CW5000 is at least twice as loud.

I meant the centrifugal inflator pumps were loud. I’ve had probably a dozen different diaphragm pumps and I don’t consider any of them “loud”. A few were “noisy” in a late night bedroom setting, but even those would be quiet (IMO) in a shop setting.

The couple centrifugal inflators I’ve used were as loud as a vacuum cleaner.

Those for air mattresses are only about 2-3 PSI. Any higher could rip the seams.

Super loud and not meant to be ran for a long time. For short jobs probably better than an aquarium pump.

Get one that looks like this. I guarantee you will be touching it to see if it is running when the laser cooling fan is on. Mine is a Sculpfun, but I saw others that looked just like it.

Air Assist Pump

How many liters of air does it give?

It is rates at 30L/min. I doubt you get that thru a 1.5mm hole.

Thanks for the information. The number of liters is also a question about the pressure but larger hole - more air quantity - less pressure.

Yeah, they rate them in LPM and PSI, but never measure both together at the same time. LPM = free flow, PSI blocked tube.

Yes, i would be using it with a 2.5mm iD 4mm tube. Is it adjustable, or would i need an adjustable Flowmeter (?) which i guess would also diminish the Lpm? Whaddya think?

Flow control for burning, and full flow for cutting. I inserted a T connector in the line. At the end of the T is a PVC ball valve. I open it to dump some air when burning, and close it to cut. When burning, I have a little air pressure in the cone to keep smoke and junk away from the lense.

Manual switching is a bit of a hassle, but it works quite well.
