Air Assist stopped working

Can anyone help with auto air assist, I upgraded motherboard Atom stack to allow auto air on/off, it worked perfectly untill the last Light burn update, the on/off button in the cuts/layers is set ot on, is there something in the background that needs setting.

It is most likely the air pump went bad, the power supply for the pump went bad, or the connector came loose. Not a software problem.

When powered directly and not through the controller it works fine.

You need to set up the correct M Value in Lightburn. It is either M07 or M08. It is somewhere in the settings of Lightburn. To test it, just type in the console window M07 or M08 and check which one activates it. M09 switches it off again.

I’ll set it up in the device settings, it must have altered the settings on the update. Thank you for assistance

Thanks for the info Roy, I’ve tried moth M07 & M08 nothing happening, the pump works fine on direct mains connection, I suspect Atomstacks bypass cable has created a fault.

I’m having the same issue as you are or were, with my Atomstack A24 Ultra laser. Air Assist worked fine when I was using Bightburn Trial version 1.7.06. When I started to burn, air assist would come on and go off automatically when the burn was started and completed. I have air assist toggled to Green on my design layers and Com port COM8 is being used to connect between Lightburn software and the Atomstack laser. When air assist is powered by the power supply that came with the air pump, it works fine. When I purchased the Lightburn License, version 1.7.07 was downloaded. That is when the Auto air assist stopped working. I also have a fan on my enclosure that uses the same 12v output power of the laser and it doesn’t go on/off automatically as it did before. I just don’t known what setting changed, to stop all 12v power output from the laser.

I am hoping you found a solution since you posted the issue 6 mounts ago, that may help me with the same problem.

Hi,
I have not found the answer, I tried to manually override the settings from the command box within Lightburn as someone suggested but no joy, annoying really as I bought the upgraded control board direct from Atom stack just for that feature and was short lived, so sorry can’t be of assistance at this time.

Did either of you install an earlier version of Lightburn to dee if the problem cleared up? You do not have to uninstall LB first.

Just for the record, Lightburn has no control over the power supply.

Hi MikeyH,
I didn’t try installing an earlier version, initially I felt it was just a glitch with the upgrade and would be sorted with subsequent updates, but up to date it’s still not working. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

John

Lightburn glitches are rare and are typically limited to MAC computers or machines that do not play by the normal rules, like xTool’s GRBL. I have 3 different machines and never had a glitch that was not my fault.

I think it is the power supply. Some machine brands are prone to failure if you use high power and fast travel. This heats up the power supply too much. It is usually cured by using a power supply with a higher wattage rating.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the thought, but the air pump has an independent power supply from that of the laser, the pump works fine when powered direct, it just won’t work when you use Atomstacks bypass connector to the circuit board so Lightburn switches on and off automatically with the laser.

Where the circuit board is supplying power to the air pump. And the power supply is supplying power to the board. so the power supply is feeding everything.

Still think it is not the power supply?
