ALARM:1 Hard limit triggered. Machine position is likely lost due to sudden and immediate halt. Re-homing is highly recommended

When I try home my machine, it gets to home but keeps trying to go and bangs off the rails then eventually I will get this on the console,

Homing

ALARM:9

Homing fail. Could not find limit switch within search distance. Defined as 1.5 * max_travel on search and 5 * pulloff on locate phases.

It seems like Lightburn does not see where the machine is.

FYI, I am new to laser engraving.

LightBurn only knows what’s reported from the controller. The controller itself only becomes aware of the position of the laser head through the homing process.

Your machine should be equipped with limit switches that are used to “home” the laser. The process involves the controller commanding the laser head to move toward the home direction. Once the switches are activated for X and Y, the controller will back off, then touch the switches again more slowly, then back off for a final time.

If your machine is crashing during homing that means either one or both of your switches is not getting actuated properly or the switches are not working properly.

Examine your machine to see if you can identify why that would be. First look for any physical obstruction.

I am not seeing any physical obstructions. How can I check that my switches are properly working if I am not seeing any physical problems? Is there a command that can tell me if the switches are seen?

These are the settings as seen on the console,
