Alarm: 3 Reset while in motion

That’s what I was wondering… Next time I get into the code, I’ll have to look…

Thanks…

I had some time to research what caused this error and determined it was due to adding the rotary setup. I purchased the Atomstock rotary but didn’t have time to learn about it. Plugged it in to see if it worked, which it did, but that must have changed the steps. Now I just need to figure out how to get back to default settings - I think. Thanks for the help… probably should have mentioned that from the beginning.

Did you make any changes to configuration when enabling the rotary? I don’t see anything in your $$ settings that should be causing you this error.

When you connected/disconnected the rotary was the power off? If not, I’m wondering if there was some damage to the controller that might be causing this issue now.

One simple thing to check is to make sure that all your connections are well seated.

Other than that I don’t see any reason for the issue on the configuration side.

I would check USB cable and different port to eliminate that as an issue.

This is common, you should to to “Edit → Machine settings” and save your current configuration. That would have ensured you could ‘reload’ them and put the machine back to it’s factory or standard configuration.

If it would have changed it from plugging it in, it would change it back when you unplugged it… This would be a major support issue.

Rotaries don’t generally work without some type of configuration changes…

Good luck

The Rotary Setup tool is in Laser Tools.

It’s important to switch the Enable Rotary option off in this menu when finished with the rotary device. This may address Alarm 3 quite handily here.

Rotary mode doesn’t seem to be on based on one of the screenshots. I would have expected a rotary mode enabled indicator on the lower right.

Top right for me. And that sly rotary setting can shut the indicator off without shutting the rotary off.

I was referring to this:

You are right. I overlooked the text indication.

Did not spot this mentioned, but I had a similar problem when I added my travel extensions (Sainsmart 3018 Pro). Turns out it was trying to go beyond the machine limits during overshoot. I had to reduce the $130, $131, & $132 MAX Travel values. Now I can jog or travel all over the place without hitting hard or soft limits. limits.
For a 3040 table (300x400mm), my settings are:
$130=294 (X)
$131=305 (Y)
$132=37 (Z)

Hope this helps.

P.S. Soft limits should be INSIDE the hard limits. The travel limit switches are for emergency stop due to overtravel. You can jog off a soft limit, but not a hard one.
