ALARM:9 Homing fail. Could not find limit switch within search distance. Defined as 1.5 * max_travel on search and 5 * pulloff on locate phases

I am getting the above message when I go to move the laser. I have used the Ortur Master Pro 2 (which I use) and the Lightburn software multiple times prior to this message. What causes it? How do I fix it?
This comes up in red as well:

What’s the history of this machine? Did it used to work or this is the first setup?

Have you changed any settings recently?

If not, can you confirm that the machine is plugged into an electrical outlet and that it’s getting power?

I have used the machine at least 20 times since I got it, so it isn’t the first setup. No, I haven’t changed the settings. It is getting power, bc the laser turns on.

In the previous 20 times you’ve used the machine has this ALARM been raised or is this something new?

Does the laser head move toward the front-left at power on? In either case can you describe what happens mechanically?

The message is indicating that the homing sequence is failing due to the limit switches not being triggered within an expected amount of motion. For your laser, this is typically because the motors are not getting power. If you’re certain that the power supply is working then first check for motion in the stepper motors. If they are moving properly then check that your limit switches are working properly and that there’s nothing impeding the laser head from activating the switches.
