Alternative to Linux support

LightBurn is dropping Linux, it’s a shame and some of us are sad that LightBurn is losing a bit of its identity and unique status with it.
But the show must go on… so I’d like to hear from @LightBurn if I can be sure you guys will support a “Mac mini, A1347, 2.8GHz GHz, 8GB ram, 500GB HDD” with Mac OS Monterey 12.7 .3, in the future or should I count on having to buy a “new” computer again in a few years, in order to continue using LB?
I know this Mac mini is a bit old but I can buy it for reasonable money and it will work fine with my old MacBook Pro from 2014.
(I’m also happy to hear possible arguments against my plan, but remember, nothing Windows or Mac M3.XXXL …)

That should work fine for quite awhile.

While we are working on Mac ARM builds we have no plan for dropping Mac x86_64 builds as not even Apple has dropped x86_64 support yet.

For v1.8 of LightBurn and the initial release of MillMage we plan on moving to Qt 6.5 instead of our current Qt 5.15. This move will require Mac OS 11 (Big Sur) or newer. Which honestly isn’t a huge deviation as currently we only support Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra) or newer (because that’s what Qt 5.15 supports). We are moving to Qt 6.5 instead of the latest 6.7 as it is the current LTS. We will eventually move to Qt 6.8 (the next LTS most likely) but will consider the implications of any OS versions that may no longer be supported once we know if there are any changes in that regard.

So, I see no reason why that Mac with OS 12.7 shouldn’t work for the foreseeable future.

I have another alternative…

Visit an Amateur Radio Convention or possibly a local Hamfest. Last time at the Orlando Hamcation, there were lots of Win10 laptops in the $150 - $200 range.
