Recently purchased a Polar 350 new from Omtech. Ended up getting the lens upgrade for the 2.5" lens and the 4" lens for cutting 1.2". I’m not sure if it’s something i’m doing but for example the 4" lens is supposed to have a 101mm focal length and all I can get max out of the machine with no material on it is 60.6mm… has to be something i’m doing wrong or why would they sell this kit?
Also have the same problem on the 2.5" lens that there just isn’t enough distance. Is this something i’m doing wrong? Even Omtech sells a 4" lens.
Picture included, thanks for any help i’m losing my mind.
@bernd.dk is likely correct, it’s probably limited by the way the machine is setup and operates.
Can you post a link to the OMTech site that this is sold as applicable to the Polar? I looked at their site, found the Polar, but not much on purchasing lenses for it.
I don’t have one of these, so I can’t really relate to your photo.
Most of us lower the bed to handle the material. Even most autofocus machines have the ability to lower the table.
The Polar site at OMTech states
Max. Material Thickness: 0.7 in. (17 mm), 2 in. (51 mm) (Without Bed)
I’d assume that would be the limits you could move it. I don’t see any information on a Z range for autofocus.
A 101.8mm lens needs the length to focus properly.
I put mine in the same tube, just a different nozzle. That doesn’t change the focal length, just the gap between the nozzle tip and the material.
