Ancient veneering techniques and glues are a perfect match for laser cutting!

There is little reference to the machines used for this work. I am new to laser machining, but not to woodworking. Is there any reason that my XTool S1 will be able to handle this inlay work if I use the Lighburn to drive it?

Should be able to! You may struggle a bit when cutting light colored woods, but it’s worth a shot trying, and I imagine you’ll be ok. I have definitely done marquetry with much less powerful diodes than the S1.

The only tricky bit with diode lasers is that the beam spot is usually rectangular, which leads to a different kerf on the vertical and horizontal axes.
