Another black screen under Ubuntu 22.04!

Hello,

another config issue using Ubuntu 22.04 and LB 1.5.09, i.e. camera is recognized but displaying a black image while trying to calibrate the objective (thus NEXT button is grey and cannot be selected).

I have the same issue with 2 cameras: the on-boarded camera of the laptop, and with a basic 5M-120° without auto-focus dedicated one bought from Ali: https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005003833993617.html

Symptom are the usuals:

  • cameras works natively under Ubuntu 22.04, using Cheese or any video soft
  • tested under LB 0.9 and 1.5.09 (I renew my old licence yesterday in case of!)
  • I been reading various post for the last 24 hours, but without any success
  • I understood the gstreamer is a good candidate for troubleshooting, but could not understand how to proceed to solve the issue

I wish one of you could give me a direction to search for.

How does the camera calibration process work when you select the onboard camera in LightBurn instead? Do this just to test to see if it gets past that point. What happens when you flip back to the desired camera? Can you see the desired camera listed when you run lsusb?

Hello Claudio,

thx for your questions.
Whatever I’m using one camera or the other I do have the same result: black screen, and cannot go any further (inactive button).
Switching from one cam to the other and reverse does not change anything so far.
Please refer to the attached file below (screen shot)

lsusb gives a great view of the cameras (named YJXU502S USB Camera for the USB attached cam, Acer for the laptotp embeded one), no issue at all (both cam are running good with Cheese for example)

I made anoter try tonight, and found out that when selecting the embeded camera, the led of the camera turns on and immediatly turns off.
My conclusion so far is that LB is accessing the camera but it is closing for some reason…

Try this for us please
And maybe send this data to support@lightburnsoftware.com
In lightburn go to Help → Enable Debug Log

Then repeat the steps above

WHen it crashes or nothing happens Close lightburn

Go to your documents and localte Lightburnlog.txt file
You can open it and copy/paste only the bottom section that matches the time where you tried it

Probably not very useful here in the forum as is a bit deep data but maybe support would be able to use it to understand what is happening

Example of output on mine when i try to access a camera already in use

Thx Gil.

I made what was requested, see just below for information.
I send it to the support as well

these two seem relevant but no idea what they mean
and this is when you select the new camera right
if you select the old one you get a good stream data?

or you get same errors on both ?

this was when selecting the embeded cam.

If selecting the USB one (which is my Aliexpress above), I do have a different message:

Hopefully is relevant data for those who know
I would suggest - if you didnt already - to pass along the info via email too
