Any advanced processes to augment engraving?

Hi all. There are a lot of people using lasers to make things. Problem is most products are similar, other than quality of machine.

I can’t help but think there are things that we could do to set our work apart.

Like what? I don’t know!

Combining paint into the process. Some way to overlay multiple layers with depth between. Applying “stucco” to laser over for texture/depth. I have to believe that there are MANY techniques that have yet to see the light of day.

HI Todd

Here’s something I’ve been working on for a couple of weeks. Most of the time was spent learning to use software tools which is the primary objective and to design a workflow that is most effective.

I just got done with the basics tryout today and still have a way’s to go with the finer details.

It’s 107mm x 137mm on 5mm birch ply, black paint, silver paint, masking with tape, 7 layers, Done using Snapmaker 20w diode Hatch and Crosshatch.

Very interesting. So, you painted those layers before engraving? How do you go about that thought process?

The paint is applied as one layer after cutting the outer boundary and the Hatch/CrossHatch per layer 1 to 7 gives the appearance of different tones/shading for each layer.

The more layers used..the more tones and shades can be included for realism.
