I recently updated to version 1.7.08 and completed a small project yesterday with a diode laser. Everything went smoothly without any issues at all.

This shows incorrect serial communication. Make sure you set the baud rate correctly in device settings. Additionally, make sure the cable is connected securely and there are no interferences.
