Hi everyone.
ive been trying to get my own diy machine runnning for a few months now, it has been a battle. I cannot figure out why the stepper motors seem to skip and go slower then what my other lasers look like @ 4000mm/m. Im pretty sure I set the grbl console settings correctly based off of the stepper calc result after measuring the distance of travel. Is anyone able to look at my setting and the issue and give any insights as to whats going on. its driving me nuts and would be greatly appreciated!
You need to post something for us to examine. More detail would also help…
wow, thanks for responding so fast. sorry about that, heres a link to a reddit video showcasing the machine running and some pictures

. its been on this same burn for hours so i know this cant be right.its a grbl 1.1 32 bit board/ lasertree 24v 10w module. Im fairly new to engraving(few months) but went in head first. found a guy on reddit nice enough to help me get this far after about a month of piecing together and changing settings etc, but we havent been able to get the steppers to move correctly through an entire burn(speed/skipping?) I just re did the gantry with aluminum supports for more rigidity and the machine feels solid. belts are tight from what im used too compared to my other machines. im assuming theres something were missing with the stepper motor calibration. forgive me if i ask any dumb questions, I appreciate the help
Does this thing home, looks like it has switches…?
How fast are you trying to run? Only 4000mm/m?
Does it make any kind of noise when it has issues?
no, the board was acting strange when trying to set up switches, so i have stops and just home from that
yea, only 2-5000mm/m on all tests and all of them are extremely slow. can I ask do you know what the V should be set too for the stepper motors on the board? im wondering if thats off
I am clueless on V… I have a larger ‘China Blue’ 50 watt co2. I do have a few little cnc3018 types for pcb. Sorry…
no worries. it moves fine when I travel via command from what I see, strange. Wish I was more familiar with all these little settings im reading about lol. getting there slowly
update, new board( i stripped the pot on the first one) same thing. its just off/clunky. im lost, any help wouid be appreciated
