Apply Path to Text

[Lightburn 0.9.14]
I’m trying to figure this function out with little success. It seems straight forward enough, but I can’t get the text to behave the way that I want it to.

Here’s what I’ve got.

I’ve made sure to set the start of the path to the left side of the path. I’ve also tried reversing the direction with no change.

But when I apply the path to the text, I get the exact opposite of what I am expecting.

What am I missing? My text is flipped and starting from the wrong end of the path.

Remove your text from the path, then select the path and use the “set shape start point” tool to put the start point at the other end of the line. Reapply the text to path and see what that gets you.

The ‘Start point editor’ is just to control where the path starts cutting. We don’t have a tool to reverse a path at the moment, and that’s what you would need to do here. If you re-draw the path from left to right, it will work as you expect.

That’s weird. I was sure I had successfully done the path reversal before by changing the start end point but I tried just now and nope, doesn’t work. I must have been hallucinating again.
I probably gave up and re-drew the line the other way.

Is a “reverse path tool” something that I should add to the suggestion list? It would be handy when attaching text.

Thanks. That works, but it would be nice to have the option to reverse the direction of the text.

I suspect with the new ‘Bend’ tool, most people will be ignoring the Apply Text to Path function now anyway.

You are always 2 steps ahead…

From my tests I prefer the “Apply Path to Text” tool versus the bend tool.
