So I really like the idea of assigning operations based on layer and I think it makes a lot of sense. It helps with tracking what shapes and objects are getting what operation assigned.
However I feel like if you enable the auto layer feature then manual assignment should maybe be disabled for that layer.
I had a case where I moved a shape to different layer thinking it would just auto update to only apply the new layer operation but it still had the old operation assigned as well.
