This will be my second year using Lightburn with my AtomStack A20 setup, which seems to be going well..
However, I have been looking to upgrade my laser to either a C02 or Fibre, but to be honest I can’t justify spending that amount for a hobby, as I only make things for friends and family, and normally all materials come out of my own pocket, as I don’t sell anything.
As an alternative, I see the AtomStack has an upgrade that you can use the R30 head which I believe this can do more engraving on materials than the diode laser, even though there are restrictions.
So I will be taking the plunge and purchasing the R30 module.
I have seen that a few people that do have them and wondering if anyone can share any gotcha’s that I need to be aware of?
Appreciate any tips and tricks.
Thanks
James
The output power of these modules is typically in the 2w range (I could not find it listed on the Atomstack site).
The beam is very small, so you will have to make more passes to cover the same area. This means projects will likely take longer than what you see with the diode laser.
However, you can do (or not do) stuff with it you cannot do with a visible light diode. This Forum posting might be educational. Bear in mind all IR modules likely come out of the same Chinese factory.
