Just got it … put it together and plugged it into my MacMini with LightBurn.
Will not find the laser.
Also there is no blue laser light being emitted from the module.
The one you use to align the laser to the work surface.
Tried to update Mac driver but it downloads it in a RAR file … wont open.
Do I need to but more software just to open this file?
Tried to use LaserGRBL on a Windows laptop but no success with that either.
Looks like it gets boxed up and sent back tomorrow.
Thank goodness for Amazons return policy’s.
I will hook the MEJE Maser 2s plus back up and us it.
I was a but hasty in my overall evaluation.
Having just tested positive for Covid I have a lot of time on my hands.
Time I plan to spend in my shop enjoying the isolation period as much as I can.
So … today I unboxed the X7 Pro and put it back together and tried it again.
This time with the advice of a few experienced users.
With their help I was able to get it up and running with my Mac Mini.
One thing that is not put out there is that in order to see the laser beam like on the NEJE lasers to help with alignment you must set the switch
Edit> Device Settings> Enable Laser Fire Button.
Then in the Move panel you set the power next to the fire button to 2%.
Then when you click the fire button the laser light will turn on.
Nice to know that after thinking the laser module was defective because it had no visible beam like I was used to seeing on the NEJE laser module.
Anyhow for benifit of others needing the information you set it up for LightBurn manualy. Select GRBL and input the information.
You might need to reboot the LightBurn software for it to take effect but when you do it should go to the home position (lower Left).
After you get it running you might want to replace the glass mirror panel with some 3mm thick red or green or amber plexiglass.
You cant see where the beam is at on the work surface thru the mirrored glass they put there.
If you ever tried to engrave a name on the flat side of a pencil you know why you need to see that.
Why they even put that there is a good question … they might as well made it of metal.
I am impressed as to how small the beam is 1/2" away from focal point.
This thing should cut 3mm plywood very easily.
At least one good thing has come from my covid experience so far.
My new AtomStack X7 is working (making a lot of smoke) and once again there is joy in my life.
