Hi, i have purchased the honeycomb bed (and the Atomstack enclosure) to go with the X20 pro but cannit work out how to attach / line up the bed with the laser cutter itself.
Both have rulers on them in both axis for 0-400mm but no obvious way if attaching one to the other.
This becomes an issue as the laser head is able toi crash into the material clamps when its not perfectly alligned
Does anyone knoiw how to have these two work together?
I did away with the clamps and thumb screws and found some strong magnets on Amazon. Magnets hold the work in place and don’t interfere with the laser head. Don’t worry so much about the rulers, Set the laser head according to your work origin. This has proven to be the easiest way to get things where you need them.
As long as you are OK with the loss of a little work area, you can create a reference line for placing the honeycomb bed. Use a plywood wasteboard, and find a way to align the engraver to that wasteboard in a way that is easily repeated. For mine, I used saw-kerfs that the legs of the engraver slot into perfectly.
With the wasteboard in a repeatable position, use the laser to engrave a line along either the x or y axis. Once that is done, you can align one edge of the honeycomb along that line. You might think that doing two lines and aligning both the x and y axis would be worthwhile, but if you have a good carpenters square and check, you are likely to find that the honeycomb is not even close to square. Mine is off square by about 6mm over the length of the axis. If I need to align a workpiece square to my y axis, I just use a carpenters square resting against the x-axis of the honeycomb.
