Backup file location

I accidentally saved over a file. Is there a place in the software that keeps backup files?

There is a file saved under the current directory. However if you close Lightburn, this ‘backup’ is removed.

I have not close it yet, but cant find where the backup is

Usually it’s in where you saved the original.

I was working in this directory /home/jack/mnt/dev-test/cnc/laser/jeremy/.

With a file saved file name of jereym-dad-son.

While Lightburn was open the backup of ‘jereym-dad-son_backup.lbrn2’ was in that directory…

Do you have 'backup’s turned off?

:smiley_cat:

I dont see a file with the backup extension. I will have to see if that option is turned off. Thanks

It’s in ‘Edit → Settings → File Settings → Auto Save interval’

Mine is set for 2 minutes. Have a rectangle I made and saved, but no ‘_backup’ file…

I’ve seen them and just recently deleted them. I know they were in the default directory. On my linux box, there is also a configuration directory /home/jack/.config/LightBurn/ that has a backup directory. They appear to be device libraries, the names are familiar… and .ini files…

Don’t know what to tell you… What is your lightburn version?

LightBurn 1.1.00, built Wed 2021-12-29 @ 11:58

Mine is set to the same 2 minute interval as well. LB Version 1.0.06
