Hello, I have a v-bit which I would like to use to follow the center of each profile or letter I assign.
I will adjust the size of the milled profile by different depths. I use the variable text feature. Is there a way to tell MillMage to only follow a center line of text or easily convert it to some special text variant used for this?
Ideally it should not remove the variable text feature as this would be used in a production setting where ease of use and speed is crucial. The same would be wished for when it comes to like two parallel vector shapes from an image, but here its static and more easily adapted perhaps but for the text i cannot see anything.
Maybe you could trick MillMage by telling it you are using an end mill of the exact text size and assign a pocket-operation but also here I lack knowledge about the feasibility of the way, i cannot even understand how thick the lines are and thus what diameter bit I should tell MillMage I am using…. thanks!!
If you are asking MillMage to split the difference between 2 lines of a text outline, I do not think so. If you want to have a single line, install the SHX (AutoCAD) line fonts. I have no idea what font styles are available in this font type.
Windows does not do SHX, this will be Lightburn and MillMage only.
45 +/- styles, with a lot that look alike. Italic, one that looks good filled, and even a script one where the LC letters connect. You could probably make do with about 8-10 from the entire batch. Download them all and delete the ones you do not want. You can review them using Lightburn.
I put that collection together from around 200 fonts I found. As has been said keep the ones you want delete the rest. You can also download them direct from my website here (under zip files): https://www.burntstuff.com/shop/downloads
Thanks for doing this. I have used a few of them a lot. Also thanks for letting me know where I might get 155 more of them. What can I say, some people collect stamps!
Many of the fonts seemed to be not be very smooth, do not know how they would turn out in reality, but i used “dins” and this solved my text issues with a v-bit.
Now for figuring out how to make text quickly and with the same tool making a flat bottom pocket…
