Best scaling for camera calibration? Large as possible, or at 2/3 points?

When doing the calibration of the camera position, are better results expected scaling the markers to as large as will fit on the camera+workspace? Or is it better to scale for 2/3 points, so that the points have roughly the same spacing to either side of the calibration point?

If it’s a linear mapping, I’d expect the larger scale to be better, but if it’s fitting curves internally, I’d think that markers at the thirds would be better.

Any thoughts?

I used 130% and find it as accurate as i need but you might do better at a larger scale. I depends on how big the item you want to trace .
If you went 2 or 300% then acuracy would suffer in the middle would be my assumption. I have a 16mp camera and a 400x600 diy frame .
I used the april tags and it worked better than ever with rc3 .
