Bi-directional fill offsets engraving

Hello, I am new here, and new to lasers, I want to engrave small keychains with small text and details, I was having no issues, but for some reason, after engraving 25 or so keychains I started to get a kind of ghosting (double image) in the images.

Looking into resources here, I came across the Scanning Offset Adjustment documentation, I set up the 50 x 10mm rectangles to engrave and measure the offset… But the funniest thing happened: there is no offset engraving inside the squares. Instead every single square is offset by about 2mm to the right of the one on top of it!

Is this normal? could it be a hardware issue?? I made sure to check the tension on the belts and everything seems to be ok with the machine itself.

This happened both with Bi-directional fill on (squares on the right) and of (squares on the left) and the rectangles are all aligned and space at the same distances.

any help on how to deal with this type of issue would be greatly appreciated

Hi @lagartx3

It is not normal and I absolutely thinks its a hardware issue. For what it is worth we have a troubleshooting guide.

thank you for replying, it does seem like it might be at least in part a hardware issue, I re adjusted belts and the X axis, and the machine is working better, but I am still experiencing some of the ghosting (double engraving) around the edges of the work area.

Do you have any advice on how to generally solve this type of issue?

This guide should help you find the issue. It’s written for Sculpfun, but most parts are similar.
