I am trying to place a circle on top of a football-shaped object in Lightburn and then use the Boolean Assistant to incorporate it. I am still on the beginning part of the learning curve. I have done it very easily with squares and circles, so I know the concept and that it works. I have tried everything I can think of with my present skills, but cannot get it to work.
I am thinking that the way I drew it is the problem. I started with a straight line and inserted a node on the right end of that line. Then just pushed it up from the center to give me the arc I wanted. Then I duplicated it, dragged it down, inverted it and connected it to the first arc, making sure it was all closed and touching at the joined regions. I have grouped them and selected both circle and football, but cannot get the Boolean Assistant to be highlighted, it is always greyed-out.
Can someone tell me how to make this work or show me another way to draw this/

Thank you, it worked. So my mistake was that just because the lines were touching does not mean that they are all one shape, is that correct? So the Boolean tool cannot join more than 2 shapes and I had 3.
The Boolean tools need closed areas to work with. It’s kind of like the difference between four pieces of a picture frame laying on the ground, but not actually glued or nailed together yet - they visually look the same, but only one would actually hold a picture properly.
When I have run into issues with Boolean, it is usually due to one shape being made up of single shapes. The fix is to make sure the group the A parts are all together in one part, then you can use the Boolean tools to incorporate another part or group of parts.
IOW - if I were to make a square and offset to make it into a picture frame, I would need to group the outside line with the inside line before I could Boolean another shape to the picture frame. Clear as mud? Easier to show than to tell…
Thank you for the response. Yes, easier to show but I have learned, through wasting much time, that Boolean only works with two shapes so I need to make sure when I am designing a shape with different parts that they are one shape before I add another to it.
