Bought used 20W China laser, missing markcfg file

Hi,

I bought a used 20W Raycus laser, and the previous owner can`t locate the markcfg file.

It is a cheap laser from China, so it has no known manufacturer. All I know is that it says LMCV4-Fiber and BJJCZ on the board, and “Pulsed Fiber Laser, Model 5W-30W Pulsed fiber laser series” on the laser source. It also has a F-Theta lens f=160mm, λ = 1064mm.

He sent me some markcfg-files he had on his computer but when I load them into Lightburn, some of them says Raycus, and some say IPG_YLP, and different size lens.

How do I know which one to use? And is it possible to set ip ut without the correct one?

The markcfg7 file has all the information about the controller and laser source. It also contains the lens correction data, that we normally find in a cor file.

You can likely build this from scratch in the device settings.

Is it possible to set it up without knowing anything about the controller or laser source? As you can tell this is my first fibre laser :sweat_smile:

Yes, use the markcfg7 file that’s loaded into Lightburn when you create the device.

Of course, you can do this yourself, but it will take a while, the configuration file is a better route.

It should come with your machine.

Thank you, but I dont have any of the files that came with the laser. Will it be possible for me (as a noob) to set it up? :laughing:

To find out what kind of source you have, it’s likely you need to look inside the machine to find the laser source you have.

Some of the settings are related to the type of source, so you need to find out what it is.

Yes you can, but it would be much more simple if you find the correct configuration file. This should take care of the lenses.

Thank you, I will watch that video and try to set it up.

As far as the laser source it only says «Raycus Pulse fibre laser, 5W-30W pulsed fibre laser series». I can’t find any info about that specific model, other than a sertificate at Raycus homepage. And that file is locked, so only staff can download it.

Did the previous owner say that one of these MarkCfg files has to be the correct one?

Raycus is the manufacturer of the laser source. This fact narrows down the selection of possible configuration files to 2.

The difference between the remaining two is that one of them enables Q-Pulse control. To find out whether your source can use this, we would need the model number of the Raycus source in the machine.

Another clue:
One of the config files sets a port for an external pedal. Does your machine have a port on the back to connect a pedal?

The field size in the settings can be safely ignored and changed later in the Device Settings. The link Jack sent helps calibrating the lens.
