Box with laser marquetry lid

I had made a panel with a Monarch Butterfly a while back and decided to turn it into a jewelry box.

Quilted maple field with fumed etimone (black), yellow heart, and aspen for the white.
Cut and veneered onto 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood

The box is Jatoba and darkly fumed white oak, front panel is figured sapele.
The box is about 12"w 4"h 8"d

Rear:

Lid:

Underside of lid, used the cutout from the top and some eucalyptus.
The removable tray is cherry with ring holder inserts front/back:

Tray removed:

Side (jatoba) with brass hinge pin:

This is some very fine work indeed. Really good. The butterfly looks so light and realistic. Some of my favourite project to see, are those that do not look laser cut AND use old techniques in a super modern way. Great work and thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Thanks dominic!

The fun part is having all the small pieces fit :grimacing:
