Trying to set up the new Neje 16mb camera on the iMac, pattern not found, I have tried several sizes of paper pattern without success, all kinds of light and without light ie daylight, raised paper pattern up no matter what I do it will not find the pattern , tried with a cheap Amazon 2mb camera and it works fine, just want a 16mb camera instead
More pixel not necessarily mean more quality. They can lead to more distortion as well… does the 16mb camera has an adjustable focus lens? Maybe you can increase quality using that.

Now I’ve borrowed a windows 11 machine and it’s just like the iMac, it can’t see the pattern, I want to try and cancel my purchase with Neje-shop and buy an original Lightburn camera, unfortunately it won’t work
Maybe try to remove the LED ring and use a constant light source. Your picture is very dark at the corners, which might interfere with contrast recognition.
I have trying sevel lights with no lock, so I gave up, end of story and thanks for help.
I had a similar problem when I was the first person to try a 16MP camera, in my case an Arducam.
I couldn’t get it to recognize anything, just like that.
I reported the problem, it WAS a Lightburn bug, there was a problem because the code wouldn’t scale up to support 16MP.
However, that particular problem was promptly fixed by the LB devs. 16MP was working within a few weeks, and that was years ago.
You don’t have a super old version of LB, do you?
Beside the quality requirements of the USB camera
(with 4 MP ore more and light sensitive chip and optics)
I found that Lightburn (v 1.6.03) couldn’t find the pattern
while I was using a bright LED stripe illumination.
I had connected this to the 24V DC power of my machine.
It seemed that the 50 Hz of the power line isn’t filtered
good enough within the power supply of my machine.
And the camera also works with a frame rate of 50 Hz
which may have caused interference.
With another light source it then worked fine.
Oh, yeah, the gain problem-
I’ve had it where the camera’s AGC looked at the average across the FOV- which was black honeycomb- and cranked the gain up so much that the white paper blinded the camera and the black circles didn’t have good edges.
It didn’t seem like it was the honeycomb itself confusing the camera. The AGC was clearly causing a problem.
Adding more illumination didn’t help, as that also increased the brightness of the paper.
What I did in the end was get some white posterboard sheets, cut 4 rectangles and lay them wherever the sheet doesn’t cover the honeycomb. Then the AGC sets the gain so that the white posterboard and paper show up and black is just… black
I also had a lot of trouble focusing the Neje 16Mb camera.
For some positions on the grid, I had to darken the room considerably, for others I had to use a remote lamp, and for the other positions, natural lighting was sufficient. It took me over an hour to redo these settings. In the end, I got it right.
(LB 1.6.00 at the time of my settings)
