After being away from my laser table for 4 years, I decided to do a test burn on my DIY 5watt GRBL machine.
The image that was burnt has text inside of an oval the text worked out well but the ovel line has a gap were the laser started and then ended. it did not close up the line gap. any thoughts on why there is a gap on the three ovals?

Maybe the machine needs a tune-up, the ovals look a bit wobbly. There’s a Light burn document on maintainance available.
Without details on how you did the burns, all you get is a guess.
You have Constant Power Mode turned off and the laser is at reduced power when it starts and stops. If that is a wide line and the mode is Fill, then no Overscan will contribute to this.
