so i have been using Lightburn for about a month, here lately i can not get lightburn to burn an image. i get the image loaded in the program hit start and it just burns a square where the image would be. im very new to all this so please be kind
Some screenshots of your lightburn screen would help please, just do a full screen capture and post it so we can see what your settings are.
Its always useful to add this informations as it might be something simple, also in your signature you can add the detials of the laser at the end of the message, type of lasers, diode, C02, bed size, OS, laser make and model and so on.
the more info you can give the more chances people here have of aiding you.
cheers

what I am seeing while the program is running is that the laser is not turning off when it should. i did buy a new motherboard for this machine, but everything stops working once i installed that.

The laser, or the computer?
There’s nothing in the GRBL settings that looks wrong. What settings were you using to burn the image?
Eric, sorry i should have been more clear, can you shut the “machine settings” window, the middle one, then on the right hand side of screen, go to the top window where it says “console”, go down a bit and you will see a tab called “cuts/layers”, click on that, that brings up the window that tells the laser what you want it to do, by shutting the “machine settings” window we can see your design and if anything is wrong with that and by showing the “Cut” window we can see what you have told the laser to do.
Also not sure why your “origin” is set to the centre point, i’m not familiar with this model of laser. anyway that is for another day.
Please then do a full screen shot where we can see the design and the “Cuts” window please. At the moment it looks ok, the laser is talking it seems to the machine on “Com 3” and is “Ready” to receive instructions in seems, before you shut the “console” window scroll down the list of gcode commands and the last one should say “ok” if it doesn’t lets us have a picture of what it says as well please as the main widow showing your design and the " Cuts " window.
If you cant see the design in that main window when you have shut the settings window click on the “loupe with a piece of paper in it” at the top of the screen, that will then show the design.
buy doing this you will answer Oz’s question as well. ( Oz, is the developer of the software in case you didn’t know)
