Cad software not loading

I just added an 80w fiber laser to my shop. When I try to add it to lightburn it finds the unit and adds it. But I can not get it to add the cat software from the usb drive. So it is pretty much a paper weight.I have watch many youtube vids about how to load it but none work.I can work in the programs but am not a computer guy. So at this point I have moved back to my old 100w co2. Any ideas would be very helpfull.

For clarity, does this mean you added Galvo support to your license?

Please describe the exact steps you have taken and the exact name of this “software” you are wanting to access. You say you have tried several things you saw from videos, but not exactly what you have tried. What were the results beyond “but none work.”?

I have not. Did not see anything about that. But that should not effect the fact that I can not even download the cad should it? As for the galvo support. I will have to look for that.

Which version did you download?

I am sorry, but I am still not understanding what this is. What is this “cad”, and where, exactly, are you trying to download it from?

Looking into our systems using the email address you use here, I see your key does support Galvo systems, so you should be good with your current license.

What more can you share about this new 80w Fiber you mention? Manufacture and some specs will help. What is the software, or more importantly, if you know, the controller that came with this laser?

I just discovered that the laptop I use in the shop is running on LB 1.5.01. The one in my office is running 1.6.03. Don’t know if this could be some of the problem. Tried to update the lap top but got this message. Error occurred. TLS intialization failed.
As for the laser. It is an Omtech 80w mopa fiber laser. The software is what came with it on the usb.Maybe some of this info will help you. Like I said. I am not a computer guy. Once I get into a program I will work till I get it right. With a little from here. LOL

There was a little bug in 1.5.01, you have to manually update. Here’s a link.

Hope this helps.

That did fix the problem with my lightburn on that lap top. Thanks.
2 questions.
1 Does the mopa fiber laser operate in lightburn like my other lasers? Reason why is I can not find any way to adjust it. It can not burn through paint right now.
2 Is EZCAD2 suppose to operate in lightburn or do I need to just buy a software that will operate it.

Glad to hear that you could get the laptop updated.

I only have diode’s, so I’m not much help with the other two questions.

Gonna need @Rick or someone else in the mind hive to give you a good answer to those questions.

You have not said who manufactures or which control board is used in this new unit. We need to know this to best guide you.
