Calibrate Camera alignment burn won't complete

I have Mintion Laser Camera and Xtool D1 Pro 10w. I am attempting to complete the Calibrate Camera alignment using the in app function below.

When I click start, the laser will make the 4 circles ending on the #3 circle, but then slowly runs towards the 4th circle until it hits the machine wall. I verified framing, moved the cardboard to the right to give it the most space, and uninstalled/reinstalled the software.
It keeps giving me the same trouble.
I did complete the calibrate camera lens function each time, but continues to make the same error.

It does not make cut the numbers or other parts of the circles. Just the circle itself.

How do I correct this?

The ability to burn these target markers is not dependent on the camera so the camera itself is not likely related to the issue.

A few questions:

  1. Does the laser otherwise function normally when not used with the camera?
  2. Are you homing the laser properly at the start of every session?
  3. Are you using jogging controls exclusively to move the laser after homing or are you manually moving the laser head by hand? If moving by hand, then avoid that.
  4. Do you use the red crosshairs on the laser module

What happens after this point?

  1. Ya, the laser will still run and cut normally.
  2. Ya, I made sure that I was getting the home and start point correct. Thought I might have been off when starting, but it’s not been an issue.
  3. Once it homes, I am not moving it. It aligns itself.\
  4. Only to make sure it’s framed correctly.
  5. Once it starts walking towards the 4th circle, it goes until it hits the maximum limit and errors out. About 3 inches beyond the circle. 5 at the most pending the cardboard location.

Is the Pointer Offset in Edit->Device Settings set correctly for your laser?

Try dramatically reducing the “Scale” factor to let’s say 100. What is the behavior then?

I believe the offset is set correctly.

I reduced the scale to 100 in the Camera Alignment wizard and got the same issue.

It ran the 4 circles of the targets but did not do any of the numbers or crosshairs.
Once it finished #4, it then slowly ran to the left side of the work area until it hit the hard limit. It did greatly reduce the area of the burn but did not affect the slow walk off the side.

That’s a bit surprising.

How extensively have you used the machine? How confident are you that the machine is otherwise working correctly in other situations?

Can you confirm the device type that the machine is setup for? Push Devices button in Laser window, then click one time on the name of your laser, then take a screenshot?

I haven’t really used it too extensively. Mostly for small projects and intermittently. I would say I am still learning it.
I can use it with the Xtool software without any issues.

It’s an xtool d1 pro 10w.

GRBL is potentially the correct device type but there are some oddities. For example, how did you arrive at 406x405mm for the work area? I’m also seeing some unusual output in the Console output in the previous post.

Did you use the .lbdev file provided by xTool to create your machine?

Can you take a screenshot of Edit->Device Settings->Basic Settings and also GCode tabs?

Ya. Prior to the 1.60.00 update, I was able to perform the calibrations.

The initial offset on your offset scan entries looks suspect.

I’d suggest recreating your device using the .lbdev file. That will likely resolve this issue.

Is this just by removing the current device, searching the device, and reconnecting it?

Using the device button in the laser menu?

I was able to figure it out and it’s working correctly now. THANK YOU!
