Camera Alignment changes over time

I recently upgraded to the latest version of Lightburn and have been having camera alignment issues ever since. I have gone through the wizard and once complete, everything is nearly perfect. I can run multiple jobs without issue. After powering things down for the night and coming back the next day, the alignment is now slightly off. For example, yesterday I relaligned the camera and saved the values and it was perfect. Width, height, X Shift, and Y Shift were all at 0. Today I ran a job and things were off slightly where I needed to adjust the Y Shift to -1.50mm. My camera and mount are both secure.

In my previous version of Lightburn, I did not have this issue. With this version, I have gone through the alignment wizard at least 5 times thinking I might have been doing something wrong. It’s always good after the wizard, but creeps more and more over time. This last time, I had to adjust the Y Shift. In other instances I have had to adjust all of the values.

My camera is a 66 degree angle version that I bought through Lightburn a couple of years ago.

Has anyone else noticed this issue? I’ve searched the forums and have not found anything similar.

The gas struts holding the lid open may be loose in their brackets, the ball mounts may be getting sloppy, or the entire strut is slowly relaxing. Some folks have installed braided-steel cables just slightly shorter than the struts’ maximum extension, so they remain taut and prevent any motion.

Similarly, check for loose hinges: any slop is too much.

Assuming the machine has a movable platform, the material must be at exactly the same height as the camera alignment targets. If it does auto-focusing, you must do that before the camera alignment, then for all the materials every time.

Tiny errors add up quickly!
