Can I invert only one layer of a file that has multiple layers, with out inverting the whole file?
Example; I want my background shape to be engraved and not the text that is sitting on top of it.
you can turn off layers in the Cuts / Layers tab on the right. Both or either showing the layer or just the output operation.

Thanks for your response Doug. I am wondering if I can invert an image within a layer and not affect the rest of my layers?
I was responding to what you mentioned as an example of what wanted to do.
So use the invert tool, which is like so many tools in that it works on selected items… just select the image and nothing else and invert the image.
