Hi all. I am wondering if I can use multiple lasers on my lightburn account? I saw one article, but it says I need a different version of LB. When I looked for updates, it says update released after expiry date.
Thanks
As of a few updates ago, Lightburn allows up to three installations per license, also known as “seats”. I have only used 2, on in my office and one on my laptop.
You can run multiple lasers off each machine (but only one at a time). I have a setup for flat work and one for rotary work on the same computer.
The galvo machine does take a complete different license than the CO2 or the diode.
As @JimNM offers along with…
Yes, as long as you have a license for the type of laser you’d like to use. LightBurn supports 3 “Types” of Lasers, based on their motion control system. These are our GCode, DSP and Galvo licenses. You can review more here:
I see you list a Thunder w/Ruida in your forum profile. If willing, share what type of laser you are looking to add, and we can assist further?
I have a Thunder yes. Am looking to pick up an xTool for now and eventually another Thunder.
So one diode and another co2.
You should be able to add as many Diode and DSP lasers using your existing key.
Hi.
Well…
It’s not my intention to talk You out of xTool, but as a xTool D1 Pro (20W blue & 2W IR) owner, I do encourage You to read all the xTool trouble threads here before making that desicion.
xTool products are not ATM fully compatible with LB (not the other way around ), no matter how strongly they advertize and claim it to be so.
They have their own rather pequliar intepretation of GRBL, and it seems like they change it every now and then.
The LB dev. team does try to keep up as well as they can, and I can’t even imagine the countless hours they’ve needlessly been forced to waste so us xTool owners are able to use -and keep using- LB.
And I for one wholeheartedly thank You guys and gals for that.
There have been rumours floating around that xTool is possibly going to do something about it, but unfortunately nothing solid yet.
And If You think that after using LB, You’ll be able to get by with XCS (xTools Piece Of Software), You’ll most likely be severely disappointed.
If You can get it running that is, it requires an insane amount of computing power and torque for what very little it can do.
So no bare bones, or cheap repurposed computers, and definitely no older laptops.
Unlike LB that will run on almost anything.
However, You absolutely do need to use XCS occasionally though, no other way to upgrade the firmware or make changes to the parameters.
So if You decide to purchase a xTool laser, do make sure that You do have a computer with adequate specs.
Even though I still really do like the D1 Pro’s mechanical construction, had I known about the XCS’s crappiness and the GRBLishness of their control system, I most likely would not have chosen xTool D1 as my entry to the wonderful world of hobby lasers.
Regards,
Sam
