I just downloaded the Lightburn Free Trial software last night and have been trying to work with things to get moving. The Materials Library was already enabled on my screen but when I try to add items, it will not allow me to do so. I do not have any presets that I know of to load into it but the Load and Save As buttons are the only ones that actually have any function in that area Even though all 5 buttons are lit up at the bottom.
The Load and Save As will open up my files but I have nothing to pull and put in there. I have watched several videos and read several posts about what to do and they all tell me I just need to hit the New button and it will allow me to save a new location, and then from there, start creating materials. However, it will not do that. When I press the New button, it has no reaction at all.
I did press the Save As and created a file which did save and showed up. However, even when it showed, still nothing else lit up for me to create under that file. (ex- Create from new layer). I am completely at a loss on this and there is no other help on this matter. There’s help on what to do, but not on what to do if it doesn’t work.
One post even told me to open the actual file location and delete the preferences files after closing out, which would basically restart my settings as new. But even still after that, it will not allow me to do anything. I am very frustrated so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
This is what I am saying. I have clicked on the New button. It does nothing. I have watched that video multiple times but it does no good to me cause i can’t get any farther. Either I’m really not getting it or something is wrong. The “New” button has no reaction. I am only able to make a saved file if I hit “Save As” and make a file. It will then show up in the drop down list. But, no other buttons light up for me to continue to add materials as I was pointing out in the other photo.

load a lightburn file; then in the material library window click on “create new from layer” … then click on new … you are asked for a folder to store your library and a name for it.
afterwards you can edit the layer, if it doesn’t meet you needs
I don’t have any files to load unfortunately. However, i think i may have accidentally figured it out. When i put my laser on top of the material i was working on (basswood at the time), the button for “create new from layer” lit up. So i used it and made that. So perhaps i just need to do that with each material i have. No where does it say that i need to have the laser on the material. Who knew… Thanks anyways haha
This should work without a laser. My laser is in another room and isn’t connected to the computer, either via USB cable or Wi-Fi. I transfer the files to be burned using a USB stick. And yet, I can still work with the material library at any time.
